Basic Questions

Common questions about video converter fundamentals

SioVue Video Converter is a powerful tool designed specifically for Mac that allows you to convert videos between different formats. It supports over 100 video formats, offers 4K/8K video conversion, batch processing capabilities, and is optimized for Apple Silicon to provide the fastest possible conversion speeds.

Download the installer from our official website or the Mac App Store. Once downloaded, open the .dmg file and drag the application to your Applications folder. The first time you run the converter, you may need to right-click the app and select "Open" to bypass macOS security restrictions for applications not from the App Store.

SioVue Video Converter requires macOS 10.14 or later. It is natively optimized for both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. For optimal performance, especially when converting 4K or 8K videos, we recommend at least 8GB of RAM and sufficient free disk space (at least 10GB) for temporary files during conversion.

Launch the application and click "Add Files" or simply drag and drop videos into the main window. Select your desired output format from the format list on the right. Adjust any settings if needed (resolution, bitrate, etc.), choose an output folder, and click "Start Conversion". The app will process your video and notify you when the conversion is complete.

SioVue Video Converter uses advanced encoding algorithms to maintain the highest possible quality during conversion. However, some quality loss may occur when converting to a format with higher compression or lower bitrate. For lossless quality, select the "Same as source" option in the quality settings or choose a high bitrate in the advanced settings.

Format Questions

Common questions about supported formats and conversions

SioVue Video Converter supports over 100 formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, WMV, FLV, WebM, MPEG, TS, M2TS, and more. It can also convert from and to specialized formats like ProRes, HEVC, H.265, and VP9. For a complete list of supported formats, check the format selection dropdown in the application.

For Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac), MP4 (H.264) or HEVC is recommended. For Android devices, MP4 is universally compatible. For Windows, MP4 or MKV works well. For web streaming, MP4 or WebM is ideal. Our converter includes device-specific presets that automatically select the optimal format and settings for your target device.

Yes, SioVue Video Converter fully supports HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision content. When converting HDR videos, select a compatible output format (like HEVC/H.265) and enable the "Preserve HDR" option in advanced settings to maintain the high dynamic range information. Note that converting HDR to SDR is also supported but will result in a standard dynamic range output.

Yes, you can extract audio tracks from videos. Simply select an audio format (MP3, AAC, FLAC, etc.) as your output format. The converter will extract the audio track from your video file and save it in your chosen audio format. You can also adjust audio quality, bitrate, and other settings before conversion.

SioVue Video Converter does not impose artificial limits on file size or video length. However, practical limits depend on your Mac's available RAM and storage. For very large files (over 4GB) or long videos (over 2 hours), make sure you have sufficient free space on your hard drive for temporary files and the final output. 64-bit architecture allows processing of files up to 16 exabytes in theory.

Batch Processing Questions

Common questions about processing multiple videos simultaneously

To batch convert videos, add multiple files at once by clicking "Add Files" and selecting multiple videos, or by dragging and dropping a group of videos into the application. You can set a common output format for all videos or configure individual settings for each file. Once all files are added and configured, click "Start Conversion" to process the entire batch.

There's no hard limit to the number of videos you can add to a batch, but practical limitations exist based on your system resources. For optimal performance, we recommend keeping batches under 50 files. The application processes files sequentially by default to ensure stability, though you can enable parallel processing in settings for compatible systems.

After adding multiple videos, select all files in the list (press Cmd+A or use the "Select All" option from the Edit menu). Then, configure your desired output format and settings. Click the "Apply to All" button to use these settings for all selected videos. You can also save these settings as a preset for future use by clicking "Save Preset" in the settings panel.

Yes, you can pause the batch conversion process by clicking the "Pause" button during conversion. To resume, simply click the "Resume" button. The converter will continue from the current file. If you need to exit the application, the converter will remember which files have been completed when you restart, allowing you to continue the batch where you left off.

In the output settings, you can specify various organization options. Choose "Same folder as source" to keep outputs with originals, or select a specific output folder. Enable options like "Create subfolder for format" to automatically organize by format type, or "Preserve folder structure" to maintain the original file organization. You can also customize file naming patterns in the advanced output settings.

Settings Questions

Common questions about converter settings and customization

Click on the "Settings" button next to your selected output format to access quality settings. You can choose from presets (Low, Medium, High, Original) or fine-tune parameters like resolution, bitrate, frame rate, and codec. For advanced users, the "Advanced" tab provides access to encoding parameters, profile levels, and other technical settings that affect output quality.

To create a preset, configure all your desired settings for a particular conversion type, then click "Save Preset" in the settings panel. Give your preset a descriptive name and click "Save". To use a saved preset, select a video and choose your preset from the "Presets" dropdown menu. All your settings will be applied automatically.

Yes, both cropping and trimming are supported. To crop, click the "Edit" button for your video, then select the "Crop" tab. You can visually select the region to keep or enter precise crop values. To trim, select the "Trim" tab and set in/out points using the timeline or by entering specific time codes. These edits will be applied during the conversion process.

Hardware acceleration is enabled by default for compatible systems. To verify or modify these settings, go to Preferences > Performance and ensure "Use hardware acceleration" is checked. On Apple Silicon Macs, the converter uses the built-in media engine for optimal performance. On Intel Macs, you can choose between different acceleration methods (VideoToolbox, Intel QuickSync, etc.) based on your hardware.

To add a watermark, click "Edit" on your video, select the "Watermark" tab, and click "Add Watermark". You can upload an image or enter text, then position and customize its appearance. For subtitles, go to the "Subtitle" tab in the editor, click "Add Subtitle", and either import a subtitle file or create subtitles directly in the editor. Both watermarks and subtitles will be embedded in the converted video.
